Alumni Perspective

"Adopting social justice leadership as praxis and utilizing the language of critique has challenged me to explore my relationship with education. In doing so, I continuously question what social justice means to me, how inequities appear in my personal and professional life, and how my behavior and actions perpetuate inequities.

I have enjoyed taking courses that challenged me to explore the practice of having essential conversations about the history of structural racism while taking ownership of how we each support in advancing policies and practices that promote justice and equity."

Strong Values

The Jesuit value of "cura personalis" or attention to the whole person informs all our work. These values are reflected in our academic programs, campus culture, and outreach initiatives. The students, faculty, and staff are dedicated to living out these values.

Social Justice

We are driven by a vision of a world guided by principles of social justice and a concern for the most vulnerable. Santa Clara University's commitment to social justice reflects its Jesuit tradition and its belief that education should be a force for positive change in the world.

Diverse Community

We recognize and celebrate the power of an inclusive community that is strengthened by different voices, perspectives and experiences. We are dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members of its community, and it continues to work towards creating a more equitable and just society.

Transformative

We assist students in transforming themselves into agents of change and preparing them for successful careers and a fulfilling life of purpose, meaning, and service. Our emphasis on community and social justice inspires students to become active and engaged citizens.
