Meet an EdD Candidate

Lorenzo is a current student in the Doctorate of Education in Social Justice Leadership program. He is originally from a small town with a close-knit community so he is familiar with the assumptions and fears one may have when considering leaving town for college.

Reflecting on his own journey of college, he aspires to clarify the daunting experience for other first-generation students that he once faced himself. Lorenzo has over ten years of experience in college advising and currently oversees new initiatives. He currently works in Undergraduate Admissions as the Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach.

Advance Social Justice and Empower Communities

Strong Values

The Jesuit value of "cura personalis" or attention to the whole person informs all our work. These values are reflected in our academic programs, campus culture, and outreach initiatives. Students, faculty, and staff are dedicated to living these values.

Social Justice

We are driven by a vision of a world guided by principles of social justice and a concern for the most vulnerable. Santa Clara University's commitment to social justice reflects its Jesuit tradition and its belief that education should be a force for positive change in the world.

Diverse Community

We recognize and celebrate the power of an inclusive community that is strengthened by different voices, perspectives and experiences. We are dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members of its community, and it continues to work towards creating a more equitable and just society.

Transformative

We assist students in transforming themselves into agents of change and preparing them for successful careers and a fulfilling life of purpose, meaning, and service. Our emphasis on community and social justice inspires students to become active and engaged citizens.
