Elementary Education: 

  • Students learn effective, research-tested strategies for teaching reading, mathematics and science in the early grades. 
  • Core attention to issues of equity and inclusive learning practices for younger children.

Secondary Education: 

  • Students will learn effective, research-tested strategies for supporting high school students and fostering positive classroom cultures. 
  • Strong focus on adolescent literacy across all curricular areas. 
  • Single Subject credentials offered in: English, mathematics, biological sciences, chemistry, geosciences, physics, social science, and world languages (Spanish).

Catholic Education: 

  • A formational program specifically designed for the needs of Catholic schools. 
  • Students earn both an MA Teaching and the academic preparation for a CA teaching credential.
  • Programs for both existing Catholic teachers across California (CatMAT) or a specialized program for aspiring teachers seeking to live in community with fellow students in the Bay Area (ExCEL).
